Walk In, Roll Out

Branding project in preparation for the launch of a new restaurant in Sheffield featuring a Japanese sushi counter and a Korean BBQ.

With built-in table grills and a menu centred around large platters designed for groups, it was clear that the unique selling point of the dining experience was the emphasis on sharing - both food and conversation.

To reflect this, I named the brand Kyōyū (共有), the Japanese word for "share".

When it came to the visual identity the aim was to create something fresh and energetic that stood out from the already established sushi & BBQ brands across the city.

The plan was to incorporate elements from both Korean & Japanese culture to try and build an authentic feeling often lost in fusion brands, whilst representing cuisine from both the land and the sea.

Vibrant montages of both cultures formed the basis of the imagery, paired with a serif logo to add some element of tradition to the brand’s appearance.
